With the theme “knowing some truths about environment even if they are inconvenient”, Pick-upau in partnership with the Shopping SP Market, held during the 2007 Environmental Week, the Environment Lounge. The event has held for 8 days started at Sunday, in Juny 3rd, took to the mall environmental activities and a lot information in folders, posters, books and DVDs.

The space was presented in several themes developed, environmental education, paints activities, recycling were some of the event attraction for the teenagers. The Autumn Project – Leaves of knowledge from Pick-upau in partnership of Environment State Department of Sao Paulo with CEPLEA presented 200 books for exhibition, including the “An Incovinient true” from Al Gore, based in his documentary which won two Oscar, best song and documentary. Besides global warming, the reading spot have had books about deforestation and energy source, water source, ecotourism, sustainable development, environmental education and preservation of historical and cultural patrimony of Brazil.

During 8 days were shown several videos about conservation units, global warming, environmental education and water resources. For Atlantic Forest were shown videos about the Parque Estadual Carlos Botelho in Sao Miguel Arcanjo/Sete Barras, Fontes do Ipiranga and Cantareira in Eldorado county, Parque Ecologico Monsenhor Salim e Jureia, the PETAR (Parque Estadual Turistico do Alto do Ribeira) in Iporanga, besides the documentary “An incovinient true” from Paramount. Among other documentaries and special flesh, was counted about 15 hours of videos exhibition.

The event was divided in two parts, in the Praça Panamericana, in the mall stay the Lounge and the exposition “Nature Mission – Clean Lakes” about the new plan of government in partnership with the Mayor of Sao Paulo and Sabesp.

The Pick-upau also held a search during the event. We made question about waste sorting, the ONGs and government act in environmental issues, the public evaluation on issues like global warming, energy resources, deforestation. See the whole search. In other poll made in SP Market, asked about the event evaluation, people highlighted the exhibition of orchids, and the great level of monitors services, all volunteers are student of biology from UNISA (University of Santo Amaro). The other point cited was the photography exposure from J. Andrade, about Atlantic Forest.

Environmental Education

Among books of environmental education, draws, recycling Office, the kids that visited the tent produced about 650 draws with paint and recycled paper. You can see some of these draws at Pick-olino. The kids were 1 to 12 years old, they also was allowed to play environmental games installed on the computer.

The event, was decorated with 2.200 litters of dry leaf caming from São Paulo Botanic Garden and the soundtrack was singing of birds, we also distributed folders, catalogs, posters, seeds of Anadenanthera macrocarpa donated from Forest Institute of Sao Paulo.

Among the presented material for the visitors debut to the “21 Strategic Environmental Projects” and “DEPRN – State Department of Protection of Natural Resources” from Environmental State Department of Sao Paulo, “Urban Planting and Pruning techniques” and “Family Volts – Consumption Wisely of Electric Energy” from Eletropaulo, we also had folders and advertises about recycling and water resources. Atlantic Forest and Tires

2003, Pick-upau wrote an article “Future of Brazil and Brazil in the Future”, published in the Expedição Ecoturismo magazine, about the environment future in the first term of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, between problems that the country would face is the importation of used tires. At that time, the threat was the neighboring country in Latin America. However, since last year the European Union, through the new resolution (law), in the beginning it had the ‘support’ of WTO (World Trade Organization), for their old and used tires have been exported for other countries, including to Brazil.

The issues is still being discussed, but in the Environment Space, Pick-upau promoted an exhibition with thirty photos of Atlantic Forest that were exposed in totems made of used tires, kindly provide by Eco Ciclo, company specialized in crushing this material. The exhibition also served as reason for the monitors inform the visitors about the Europe want put in countries like Brazil this kind of garbage.

The exposure was totaly based in the state of São Paulo, show images of conservation units as parks of Ilha Anchieta, Serra do Mar (Núcleo Pinciguaba), both in Ubatuba, Carlos Botelho, Intervales, among others. On the Atlantic Forest spot, besides photos and donated seeds, there was a exposure of orchids which was promoted by SOCAN – Cantareira Orchids Society, about fourty species of orchids were presented to the public, who are enthralled with the beauty of the most valued specie of nature.
