Pick-upau Environmental Agency started to be part of the Council of the State Park of Fontes do Ipiranga, one of the main conservation units of Sao Paulo. Although it is not know from its name, these park hosts major institutions as Sao Paulo Zoo, one of the biggest in the world, Botanical Garden, Institute of Botanic, Zoo Safar and Science and Technology Park of University of Sao Paulo (USP) and so on.

Located between the counties of Água Funda and Saúde, the park still has the spring of Riacho do Ipiranga, immortalized by D. Pedro I, during the Proclamation of Independence of Brazil.

About the State Park of Fontes do Ipiranga
Also know as State Park or Parque da Agua Funda, o PEFI, had born in XIX century, precisely on September 12th,1893. From the Law August 17th, 1892 which authorized the enhancement of water supply in Sao Paulo, led the State Decree nº 204 on September 12th 1893 stated the land for public use of the Bacia do Ribeirao do Ipiranga, belonged at the time to several owners. The park had 6.969.000 m2, was, 22% bigger than today.
